Watch “THE MINDSET OF HIGH ACHIEVERS – Best Motivational Video for Success in Life & Study 2017” on YouTube

I’m feeling fired up today, and I’m burning bright, feel my heat!

My parents had difficulty reading and writing, but I’m an author today; and sharing my observations, knowledge and reflections through the written word is my elixr.

I’m driven to motivate and inspire not only others, but my higher self.

I will leave a positive legacy and memory prior to my spiritual transformation

Exceptional circumstances

I’ve always believed that we will all face at some stage or another a situation where exceptional circumstances will dictate one’s next direction in life.

I am a confident individual; well I like to think that I am. I believe in myself so much, that often when I set myself  a task, I usually achieve or master it.

But dear reader, I am also fallible, I will make mistakes, will do something that my silent voice has already projected in front of my mind’s eye the likely consequences, and yet I will pay no heed to the message, or the likely outcome and ignorantly lead with my human state of mind, instead of my all-knowing, all-encompassing spiritual being.

I am not afraid to take risks, I like to challenge myself, I don’t like the easy route, the comfort zone if you will. I like to GROW through my own endeavours, and yes the accompanying errors of judgment too.  Maybe one day it will be a colossal mistake, who knows.

However through it all, I believe that I have been brought up by my late and wonderful village parents to continue to remain a good human being.

I really don’t like to cause distress or angst or disappointment to anyone.

I am also terribly honest with myself and others once I do screw up… and on I continue to go down my unique yellow brick road, whether people wish to dance alongside me isn’t important, what is important, is where I am going!

Yes this is something of a confession blog today, I failed to follow my own serial teachings, and have been rightly taught a harsh emotional lesson, duly given a very rude awakening.

But the PAST is not where I live people, I live in the here and now, working towards a solid future for my girls, G’son and loved ones; and what is done, cannot be undone right? So…

People good and bad will come into our lives to teach us something, or for us to teach them something, then they like all of us, will one day go – FACT!

We’ve just go to get used to it right, it’s the universal law of things.

Exceptional circumstances indeed.

The importance of #character

Most people who know me, will know that I view life philosophically.

I look forward to the highs, but am always prepared for the lows, because that’s how life goes!

Often what determines the highs and lows in life are people.

I don’t know about you, but I enjoy the company of people with real character.

Not your ‘same old same old’ person who follows fashion, behaves like a sheep, is easily swayed by external opinion, and has no principle, stance or acquired values on, well, anything.

I would have loved to sit and dine with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, for example, or more topically a Donald Trump… yeah I know, don’t say anything please.

On the female side, the remarkable Tina Turner comes to mind, or, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll. You get my drift?

Now these are well known public figures, but there are many of us who share these people’s doggedness, self-belief, ‘big picture’ thinking and a commitment to a cause; their cause.

These and other life path making qualities, I call character.

People with character are often very influential, charismatic, inspirational and driven. They’re often creative, and yet in many cases modest too.

People with character don’t need to be surrounded by people all the time in order to achieve self-worth or feel valued. They’re not concerned about the views of others. People of character know who they are, and moreover know instinctively what is required to get where they want to get to in life. Dare I say, most of those tools are inbuilt.

They are also not put off by setbacks, they understand that each setback is an excellent opportunity for a comeback.

A person with character; if you are fortunate to befriend one, will not let you down. Fickleness… What’s that?

It does seem in the 21st century, that building character is no longer deemed crucial, I beg to differ. For me, good character can make the difference to a life of mediocrity or a series of outstanding achievements.

Adversity, Strength & Wisdom

I took a call from someone yesterday. This person was at a low point and needed lifting.

Some people go through life with little in the way of disappointment, rarely hearing the word ‘NO’, always someone on hand to bail them out; cosseted and cushioned.

While others are often let down, allowed to make mistakes and face the consequences; the seemingly ever-present one step forward, two steps backwards experience.

You’d think that not having to navigate endless bumps in endless roads is a good thing right? Screwing up without ever facing repercussions is a real blessing yeah? Well you would be misguided.

How does one acquire wisdom? What stories of valour and overcoming challenges can be passed on to those that most need it, if one hasn’t lived to be able to convey such important lessons?

When the person whom I listened to reaches old age, they will be able to smile gracefully, because they’ve banked invaluable lessons from this thing we call life.
